Our Two Year Old Milo

Today is a day of celebration! We are celebrating the miracle that came into our lives here on earth 2 years ago! Of course we loved him long before that…..to say that we are blessed and that he is amazing is a huge understatement. He is what spins our world around. ;) The last two years have been so FULL ~ full of emotion, adventures, challenges, amazement and love ~ more than I could have ever dreamed of.  But today is not about me ;) today is about this amazingly beautiful little soul who graced the world with his presence two years ago.
Last year I wrote about all he was doing and many of those things he still does but his character and soul are in full bloom right now!  There are a million and one things to love about this child and here are a few that stand out and what I think about when I think of our “Milo”.

The way he has become so much more cuddly because he knows his mommy needs it, the way he has started calling us mommy/daddy instead of mama/dada, the way he smiles this really cheesy grin and squints his eyes when he’s trying to convince you that what he wants is really a good idea, the delight in his eyes when he sees a plane (pane), motorcycle (voom voom) or choo choo train, the way he says “oooh poppy” when he leans in to give Penny hugs, the way he’s obsessed with his training toothpaste and how he always wants to “rosh” his teeth, the way he wants mommy or daddy to do EVERYTHING he’s doing right along with him (sorry buddy ~ mommy can’t climb into the cupboard with you!), the way he puts his hands up in the air and squeezes them together asking for “doo doo” (blue’s clues), the amazement in his face while watching his other TV love “Dino Dan”, the way he still loves to push, pull, bounce, run, jump on anything and everything he can find, the way he cries when mommy has to leave to go bye bye, the way he wants us to hold him so he can see and touch everything on the counters, the way he loves to “cook” in his kitchen and bring us “nummies”, the way he feels the need to take a pen and notebook everywhere with him so he can “roun & roun” (draw circles), the way he has become so opinionated about what is served for dinner, the sweet tooth he has developed especially for chocolate, the way he thinks he likes juice and suckers and will go through every flavor there is before he realizes once again that he doesn’t really like these things, the way he thinks he is creating magic by twirling his hands over the top of his subject and then saying “tada!”, the way he loves taking the butter knives out of the drawer and handing them right to mommy or daddy because he knows it’s a “no no”, his love of bikes or anything that moves, the way he wraps his middle finger and thumb around his chin while tapping his pointer finger on his nose while saying "hmmmm" as if he's really pondering something, his super love of all things cousin, his oral fixation to drink his bathwater and pool water (this one mommy really hopes goes away soon!), his love of wearing his “ba pak” (backpack) around the house as he plays, the excitement in his whole body when we’re going to “pay” (play) on the “sides” (slides), the way he thinks that every time the phone or doorbell rings that it has to be nonnie, the innocent little way he says “mon” as he twirls his arm in a windmill motion for you to “c’mon”, his love of walking to the mailbox (bock) with mommy to get the mail everyday and how he has to carry the keys the whole way, the accelerated speed in which he can sprout alligator tears and throw himself down on his bottom when he doesn’t get his way, the way he hugs my neck so tight and pats my back when I try to put him into the grocery cart (his way of talking me out of it) and the way he’s growing into such a big boy that sometimes he gets to walk along side of the cart now, the way he loves to “pat pat pat” the sand in his sand box  while creating his castles, the way he is learning new words every single day, the way his little voice says “tee too” (thank you) when you hand him something he’s asked for, the way he thinks that when I count to 3 after I’ve asked him to do something is extra time he gets since mommy just goes and gets him anyway, the way he loves to tell you the sounds that his favorite animals make, the way he names the animal by it’s sound…such as a duck is a “wak wak”, a cat is a “mow”, a chicken is a “bak bak”, the concern he experiences if someone is crying, the game he likes to play when he pushes me over, asks if I’m “otay?” and then wants me to fall over again and again, the way he giggles deep in his belly, the conversations he has with his friends in his very own special language with hand/arm gestures and all, the way he loves to cover our head with a blanket and have us growl at him ~ this is playing “rawr” , the way he loves to wear my gloves and hold/talk on the phone at the same time, the fact that I found my oven mitts in his new playhouse outside, the way he covers his baby with all the blankets in his drawer and puts her in his crib to go “nye nye”, the way he felt that mickey mouse needed a diaper on just like him, the way he has started going pee pee in his own potty before he gets into his bath, the way he wants me to hold him at the stovetop so he can "sirrup" (stir it up) while something is simmering, the way he loves to talk to people on the phone as he wanders around the house showing them his environment, how he begs for his vitamins because he thinks they're "nummy!!", the way he loves babies unless mommy or daddy is holding the baby for too long, the kindness that he shows when playing with others….most of the time, the way I found him with this vroom vroom and the screwdriver intently “fixing” the problem, his new found love of “boots” (books) and how he loves to study all the pictures, his love of the moon, the discover of his new favorite book “Goodnight Moon”, the way he loves to be chased…especially by his daddy, the way he plays his guitar like a true rock star, his dance moves that will have you rolling in tears, his resilience of pain, the way he’s discovered he can beatbox and play his keyboard while dancing all at the same time, the way he found a paperclip and decided it might work to open daddy’s locked office door, the way he’s obsessed with anything that might possibly be hot and gets so excited when you tell him that yes in fact it IS hot, the way he continued to blow out his birthday candles before I could even get them lit, the way he has started saying “ooh so tute” (oh so cute ~ after hearing me say that in the store last week), the way he still needs his “baba” and “mee” (monkey blanket) to go night night, the beautiful way he puckers up his lips more than you thought possible in order to give you kisses, the way he pats our back when he gives hugs because this is what we do for him, his love of shoes and the way he insists on wearing the one pair that are too small for him, the way he loves to sit in his big boy chair to eat his “nack” (snacks) instead of this highchair, the way he likes to pretend he’s sleeping and snores and wants us to say “wake up little baby…it’s time to wake up”, the way he pretends he’s sleeping when it’s time to get out of his carseat, the way he loves his new playhouse and can open and close the doors as many times as he wants, the way he loves to eat popcorn with daddy while watching a movie and how the popcorn from daddy’s bowl must taste much better than the popcorn from his own bowl, the way he can figure out how to use anything in the house to give the height he needs to get up onto the kitchen counters, the way he loves to play with the coffee maker and pretend he’s making coffee, his love of squirt bottles and how happy he is when he sprays you with water, his love of feeding Penny way more scoops of food than her dish could possibly hold, the way he hates any blankets over him unless he’s in his crib, his oral obsession with lotion and chapstick, the way he’s learning to hold our hand without any resistance as we cross the street, the way he continues to hold my hand as we walk down the sidewalk, the way he ASKS to hold our hand because he loves us, his new karate moves that I can only wonder where in the world he got from, the way he tenderly touches my face sometimes and says” oh mama”, his curious little nature and the way he watches everything so intently, the way he comes in to my room in the morning to “kickle kickle kickle” (tickle) mommy to “wake her up”, the way he is recognizing familiar faces in the pictures around our house and beginning to call each person by name, the way we continue to give him fruits and veggies and how he only wants cheese, the way he only sleeps well if he’s in his own room in his own bed, the way he loves his crib and has only once tried to climb out, his love of hats and sunglasses, the way he can have 50 different facial expressions in a matter of 5 seconds and the way he will come running to us from out of the blue to hug our legs so tightly letting us know that no matter how many times we may fail…..he loves us just the same!

This doesn’t even begin to scrape the tip of the iceberg on all the reasons and ways that we love this little boy…….but it’s a sneak peak into the excitement and adventure that he brings to us each and every day!

We love you sweet birthday boy!!!!!!! You are an amazing person and we are so lucky to witness your life!!!!!!!
